Here’s everything you need to know and how to get involved.

Our Isles and Oceans Ambassadors Clipper Race

Our Isles and Oceans works with a unique array of partners to provide life changing opportunities for young people.

Delivering experiences and opportunities for personal and professional development, Our Isles and Oceans provides funded programmes and creates youth development initiatives across the country. These programmes are primarily delivered through the vehicle of sport, however the organisation is continuously growing and building, extending its network of contacts and partners to provide more and more opportunity to young people.

The cornerstone of the campaign is a partnership with one of the biggest challenges in the world, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. As a Clipper Race Team Partner, Our Isles and Oceans will compete in the 2023-24 race where Our Isles and Oceans beneficiaries will have the chance to apply to sail around the world onboard the Our Isles and Oceans Clipper 70 Racing Yacht.

Our other Key Partners include;

United Nations Association – Climate and Oceans

The Scottish Association of Marine Science

Our Isles and Oceans Clipper Race Below the Skye Line

Our Isles and Oceans brings people together through the vehicle of sport.

The Our Isles and Oceans key partnership is with the Clipper Race. As well as being a Clipper Race Team Partner, Our Isles and Oceans has developed a training programme where young people will learn to sail and receive a RYA Start Yachting Qualification following five days of sailing and activities. During this programme, participants will be trained by a Clipper Race Skipper and Crew and will experience sailing on the open ocean off the West Coast of Scotland. This exciting experience provides a unique opportunity to push individuals out of their comfort zone putting them in a team with other likeminded people.

‘The Clipper Race is one of the biggest challenges of the natural world and an endurance test like no other.’ – Clipper Round the World Yacht Race

The Clipper Race is one of the toughest endurance challenges on the planet. More than a sailing race, it inspires individuals, connects people and places and provides opportunities to drive global trade.

The epic event sees teams compete in the most remote and inhospitable places on the planet including the Atlantic, Southern and North Pacific Oceans. Led by a professional Skipper and Mate, Race Crew can complete the full 40,000 nautical mile circumnavigation or choose to test themselves on one or multiple legs. The brainchild of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first person to sail solo, non-stop around the world, the Clipper Race allows participants to achieve something truly remarkable.
